Yesterday, something happened that reminded me exactly why I chose to stick with Amazon KDP, even when the sales were slow and inconsistent at times:
I sold 79 notebooks in a single day, bringing in around £240 in royalties.

And the best part?

These sales were 100% organic.
They didn’t come from any of the ads I was running. They were simply from notebooks that I created and uploaded a while ago.

That’s the magic of KDP. Once a book is live, it can keep working in the background for you, over and over again.

Why I Keep Going With KDP (Even When It’s Quiet)

It’s so easy to get discouraged with print-on-demand. Some days you might only make a few pounds, or nothing at all. But what I’ve learned is this:
Consistency adds up.

Every time I upload a new notebook, logbook, or journal, I’m building a back catalogue. Some books sell straight away, others take time to gain traction. But once they do, they often continue to sell again and again, with no extra effort from me.

No customer service.
No packaging and posting.
No stock to manage.
No chasing buyers.

Just simple royalties landing in my account when people choose to buy something I’ve already created.

Proof It Can Work Without Ads

Although I have been testing out ads, none of the 79 sales yesterday came from them. That spike came purely from organic traffic. I hadn’t touched the listing. I hadn’t even promoted it anywhere. It just happened.

This shows that with the right keywords, covers, and niches, your books can sell themselves, even when you’re not actively marketing them. That’s why it’s worth learning how to do it well and sticking with it through the quieter patches.

If You’re Thinking of Giving Up…

Don’t.

It can be slow to start, but the potential is real.
You don’t need to be a designer. You don’t need to write long books.
You just need to keep uploading and improving bit by bit.

If I’d stopped after the first few months of slow sales, I’d never have had a day like this. It’s taken time, but it’s working.
