Are you stressed at work?
Stress affects different people in different ways, and when you can feel your employer piling on the pressure you’re likely to be suffering some of the very many side effects of stress. Did you know that when it’s particularly bad, stress can turn into physical pain?
Not many people know that the tension that they feel across their shoulders could be due to stress, instead blaming it on their daily grind. Work stress can have some health consequences that are difficult to manage, but stress at work is exceptionally common. The key is to reduce your stress as much as possible, and we’ve got seven ways that you can do that.
Herbal Supplements. Valerian root is an excellent way to feel relaxed enough to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Some people use CBD oil to relax and so researching the best herbal supplements for you to relax is imperative. You should always double check with your doctor before taking any additional supplements to your diet.
Exercise. You can pump adrenaline and endorphins through your body when you exercise, which can take away from feeling stressed. Pushing through a workout routine can help you work out some frustration, making you feel relaxed and happy.
Avoid Conflict. Personal conflict and office politics – even when you aren’t involved – can cause tension and stress. Avoiding this is important for your mental and physical health, so avoid anywhere that is having an effect on your mental health.
Get Comfortable. Another stressor at work can come from the physical discomfort than you’re in. If you haven’t had a workstation assessment, then you need to request one so that you have the right ergonomics to sit comfortably at work. You can find sore muscles in your back will make you feel less supported and being more comfortable can help to alleviate the pressure.
Fresh Air. Sometimes, being stuck inside the office can make you feel stressed and hemmed in. If you take yourself for a walk during the working day, you can avoid that claustrophobia and feel far better about your environment.
Music. Most workplaces allow you to listen to music while you work, so get some good relaxation tunes on your phone or iPod and listen as you work. The effect on your brain while you’re busy can keep you calm and relaxed while you are focusing on your tasks at hand.
Slow Down. When you’re under work pressure, you feel it physically. So, slow down and take your time. Stop multitasking everything and take your time. Play to your deadlines but arrange your work better so that you aren’t rushing while you do it.
No one likes to feel stressed in the workplace. It doesn’t feel good to have tension in your muscles, chronic headaches and coming down with every illness under the sun because you’re run down and not taking care of yourself. Take the time to take care of you and you can easily manage your stress levels again.
