Keyword research can be done manually using Google. But if you’d rather have a bit of help, and find keywords quickly, the best keyword research tools for bloggers are Keysearch and Jaaxy.
I’ve tried a few keyword research tools and these two are my favourites because they are easy to use and understand, they also perform the functions I need and help find low-competition keywords for my blog posts.
When I first started blogging, I didn’t bother with keyword research. I’m sure there are a lot of us that skip this part!
Keyword research is important for SEO and shouldn’t be dismissed. Doing keyword research and optimising your posts will help your pages rank better in search engines.
Using a keyword tool helps to find those low-competition keywords and provides information about how many searches are performed monthly. Let’s take a look at Jaaxy and Keysearch.
Jaaxy Keyword Tool
The Jaaxy keyword tool is built for marketers, developed by the guys who co-founded Wealthy Affiliate, an affiliate marketer training program. They have a very long history of affiliate marketing experience.
I don’t currently use this one because it’s priced quite high, but if you can afford it, it’s well worth using as it’s one of the best keyword research tools available. You can try it out for free and get 30 searches.
There is a Lite version of the Jaxxy keyword tool for free if you become a member of their training program. This is perfect if you are new to affiliate marketing and want to learn the ropes with the keyword tool thrown in.
How The Jaaxy Keyword Tool Works
In the image below, I have searched the keyword “what is affiliate marketing” and you can see the results.
Avg – The average number of searches the keyword receives per month
Traffic – this is how many visits you’ll receive if you get to the first page in the search engines.
QSR – Quoted Search Results, this is the number of competing websites in Google for this keyword. Choose a keyword with a lower QSR number here, the higher the number, the harder it is to compete.
KQI – This is the keyword quality indicator, go for the green ones.
SEO – A score based on traffic and competition on a scale of 1-100. The higher the score the better and the more likely you will rank for this keyword.

Keysearch
Keysearch is the keyword research tool that I currently use, it’s a brilliant tool and comes at a very good price (I have a discount code below if you like the sound of it!).
I personally think this is one of the best keyword research tools for bloggers, especially those who can’t afford to pay for more expensive keyword research tools.
See the results in the image below for the keyword “scooters”.
The keywords you need to target are the green ones, even better blue because that means less competition. Avoid the red ones as there will be a lot of competition.
Take note of the search volume, it’s no good using the keywords if the term isn’t being searched. I like the search volume to be at least 1000.
Other Keysearch Features
There’s a lot more to Keysearch than just finding long-tail keywords. There are more features to offer inside this great tool, it’s best to try out Keysearch for yourself to see just what it has to offer. Here are some of the handy tools.
Backlink Checker
Check backlinks on an entire domain or specific page to see how many backlinks there are. Check your own domain and your competitors. Along with this, there’s another handy tool to check URLs metrics, such as DA (domain authority) and more.
LSI Keyword Generator
LSI keywords are words or keyword phrases that Google associates with your main keyword. LSI stands for “latent semantic indexing”. Using keywords generated here will help posts to rank higher.
Keysearch Deep Analysis
The Keysearch deep analysis feature allows you to dive into the top 10 results of a keyword and get a very in-depth look at the competition.
Uncover Hidden Google Suggest Keywords
Uncover hidden Google Suggest keywords by using an underscore. When you replace a word with an underscore Google Suggest will automatically fill in the underscore with relevant keyword phrases that you would most likely not have found.
Opportunity Finder
Keysearch has another handy tool where you can search to find websites that are accepting guest posts to help earn links, traffic and exposure.
It finds forums where you can engage within the community to earn links, traffic and exposure.
Keysearch also finds blogs to help locate influencers in your niche for networking or commenting opportunities to increase links, traffic & exposure.
As you can see Keysearch has a lot to offer and I haven’t listed everything. I also want to mention that the support is top-notch too. Any questions I’ve had, have been promptly answered by the Keysearch creator.
