I always advise getting a self-hosted WordPress website, this is not to be confused with WordPress.com. I am referring to the self-hosted WordPress from WordPress.org, which is open-source software that you install on your domain.

Why You Should Use WordPress

Why Is WordPress Better Than A Free Blogging Platform?

WordPress is much better than using a free blogging platform like Blogger, Wix, or WordPress.com because you will fully own it and will not be limited to what you can do with it. You may come to regret using a free platform due to the limitations of functionality.

Going self-hosted is the best option especially if you are serious about blogging and want to make money.

WordPress plays well with search engines and is SEO-friendly. You can easily improve your site’s visibility using SEO plugins like AIOSEO.

WordPress takes security seriously and provides regular updates to keep your site safe.

You don’t need to be a tech wizard. WordPress has a user-friendly interface, making website management a breeze.

What Is WordPress?

WordPress started as a simple blogging system and has grown so much over the years, there are tons of things you can do with it. Turn your blog into an online store, affiliate site and much more.

WordPress is free to install and you are free to do what you want with it. It doesn’t cost a fortune for hosting and you can use one of the many free themes if you’d rather not purchase one.

I use a theme called ‘ChicBoss‘ by Bluchic. Take a look at 11 of their themes in my post here.

Hosting

The companies I use to host my WordPress blogs are Ionos who have great value hosting packages and Siteground, they are a bit more expensive but are easy to set up. You also get a free domain for the first year, an SSL certificate and protection against cyber-attacks.
