Do you still have acne at 40?

I personally have had oily problem skin since I was a teenager and still had acne at 40. My skin would flare up with acne one minute and be clear the next.

I spent hundreds of pounds on different creams, washes and lotions over the years. I also took various contraceptive pills until I was advised not to use them anymore due to headaches.

I’m in my late 40s now and still am prone to breakouts. Over the years I found certain products that did help quickly nip acne in the bud as soon as it flared up.

Skin Care Products For Oily Skin

One of the best skincare products for oily skin that I use is Benzoyl Peroxide. I still use this today when needed. In fact, I wouldn’t be without it.

Acnecide gel is one of the best. Acnecide 5 gel is a 5% strength benzoyl peroxide. It says gel on the tube but looks more like a cream being white.

Salicylic Acid face wash is a good face wash for oily skin, especially when used alongside benzoyl peroxide.

A salicylic acid face wash has the ability to penetrate deep into the dermis, breaking down sebum (oil), and removing dead skin cells that build up over time in your pores. This helps to dissolve blackheads and shrink the pores.

There are different forms of acne that vary in severity, severe cases should always be seen and treated by a doctor or dermatologist so that you receive the best treatment and reduce the possibility of having permanent scarring.

Acne And Self Esteem

Acne affects more than just the body, it can affect every aspect of a person’s life. The pain and heartache of dealing with some potentially disfiguring forms of acne cannot be overemphasized.

The emotional and psychological aspects of acne can lower quality of life and permanently lower self-esteem.

What Is Acne Vulgaris?

Acne Vulgaris is a skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide, it’s not life-threatening but can have a big impact on sufferers making them feel miserable and want to hide away.

Acne is a very common skin condition which can vary in severity resulting in pustules, papules, cysts, nodules and plugged pores that are known as blackheads and whiteheads.

When Does Acne Start and Do You Grow Out Of Acne?

Acne usually starts during puberty and is often wrongly thought that it will burn itself out by the time you reach an adult, yet acne sufferers can still have this acne at 40 and into their 50s and suffer from flare-ups now and again.

Where Does Acne Appear On The Body?

The most common places for acne to appear are on the face, neck, back, shoulders and upper arms although it can appear anywhere on the body apart from the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

Have another concealer stick in a green shade. A green concealer is good at counteracting redness, this helps spots look less noticeable when they are red and inflamed.
