Anxiety affects more people than you realise myself included, but the problem we face is that many people don’t discuss the issues they have. Anxiety can cripple you. You become a slave to your thoughts and emotions and those very thoughts can start to dictate how you act and what you do.

There can be an array of reasons why people struggle with anxiety, it might have something to do with social situations, a change in circumstances or lifestyle or maybe just something that has gotten worse over time. Whatever it is, you don’t need to let it take over your life anymore.

I wanted to share with you some of the common things you could do to help combat those feelings of anxiety for good.

Is Anxiety Taking Over Your Life? The Things You Could Do To Combat It

Start Exercising More

One of the first things you could consider doing is taking more exercise. Exercise is a proven technique to overcome anxiety. It gets the blood pumping around your body and induces the endorphin hormones that help you to feel good.

It can also be a great way to clear your head and feel better. Often the problem with anxiety is the thoughts you have and the fogginess you can feel because of them. So a great idea is to ensure that you start exercising, even if it is in small amounts at first. You will start to see and feel the benefits over time.

Essential Oils For Anxiety

Several essential oils are believed to have calming and anxiety-reducing properties, although their effectiveness can vary from person to person. Here are some commonly recommended essential oils for anxiety:

  • Lavender Oil: Widely known for its calming effects, lavender is popular for relaxation and stress relief, often used to improve sleep quality.
  • Chamomile Oil: With soothing properties, chamomile is used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation and calmness, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety.
  • Bergamot Oil: Known for its uplifting scent, bergamot can reduce stress and anxiety levels, promoting a sense of well-being.
  • Ylang Ylang Oil: Its sweet, floral scent promotes relaxation and reduces stress, believed to have sedative effects for calming the mind and body.
  • Frankincense Oil: Used in meditation, frankincense has grounding properties that reduce stress and promote inner peace with its woody, earthy aroma.
  • Clary Sage Oil: With a herbaceous scent, Clary Sage has calming and antidepressant effects, alleviating stress and anxiety while promoting relaxation.
  • Rose Oil: Known for its rich, floral scent, rose oil reduces anxiety levels and promotes emotional well-being, often associated with feelings of love and comfort.
  • Patchouli Oil: With a rich, musky aroma, patchouli is used in aromatherapy to promote relaxation and reduce stress, calming the mind and body.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

You could also speak to your doctor and try talking therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This can often help you overcome the negative impact of your thoughts and give you the tools you need to handle the anxiety moving forward.

Look At The Food You Are Eating

Sometimes it might be the food that you are eating having a negative impact, causing the feelings of anxiety to begin with.

A sugary diet can mean you get spikes of energy and also major comedowns, which can leave you feeling terrible, as well as being in a position where weight might be gained.

If you can, try and eat a more balanced diet that will ensure your body gets all the vitamins and nutrients it needs to function properly.

Is Your Mindset Helping Or Being A Hinderance?

Perhaps you don’t realise it, but your mindset can be playing a big part in how you are feeling. So you may want to take the time to focus on how you think and whether you have a positive mindset and outlook on life. Changing a few habits could make all of the difference.

I hope that these tips help you to ease the impact anxiety has on your life.
